  • What happened to waiters and waitresses? Somewhere along the line, they got replaced by "servers" and more often than not these days I get someone coming to my table telling me their name is Amy and she'll be "helping me out tonight". I don't need someone helping me out, I just need a waitress to bring me a cup of coffee, take my order, and bring my food.
  • And after I get my food, sorta keep an eye out. Refill the soda glass or coffee cup when it gets near empty. After I"m done, bring the check. I don't want to wait hours just to pay for the meal. A great way to make a good tip is to provide good service.
  • And turn the music down. There's no reason on God's green earth to be blasting crappy songs from the 80's into my ear. I hated them then and I'll walk out of your restaurant if I can't concentrate on reading the menu because it's too freaking loud..
  • On further thought, just turn the damn music off.
  • And invest in some ceiling tiles, okay? Bare ceilings might look all cutting edge and cool, but all the noise just bounces off of them. You might want to reread that part about me walking out if I can't concentrate on the menu because it's too damn noisy.
  • If you're running a sports bar with 30 TV's showing 30 games, you only need the sound up on one of them. When you have the sound up on all of them, nothing makes sense, including why I'm even there. If you've got the sound muted on the one I'm watching, it's okay. I've been watching football and baseball a long time. I don't need some loudmouth announcer to tell me what's going on.
